WE OFFER PICK UP AT OUR SHOP IN ROCKVILLE CENTRE

The Lost Dog is a small but mighty company delivering great art around the world from our home base in Rockville Centre, NY. Inspired by a love of travel, typography, the outdoors, bold graphics, vintage style and photography, our art has been loved by loyal customers since 2009.

Our core business is selling the art we make to our wholsale accounts around the country. You can see us in person at NYNOW, Americas Mart, National Stationary Show, pop-up art shows and local markets. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook to stay up to date about upcoming shows, new designs and more good stuff.

About the Designs and Illustrations

Every little detail of our type maps is drawn by hand - that means every letter is different, giving it an original and organic feel. Hundreds of hours have gone into creating our unique cartographic signature. Our art is registered with the U.S Copyright and carries a unique registration number and certificate.

Our illustration style is graphic and bold. We have a love for old style screen printed art and draw our inspiration from the past.

Our vintage photography scenes are photographed using images we shoot ourselves and then photo retouched to achieve a vintage look.

We produce gallery-quality giclee prints using an HP Z5200 ink jet plotter. To make it easy and affordable for you to display your art, all our prints and posters are made to fit common frame sizes.

About our owner

Graphic Artist James McDonald is the talent and vision behind the Lost Dog. He grew up on Long Island and has been a life long New Yorker living in Suffolk County, Queens, Brooklyn and Nassau Counties. A graduate from the University of Farmingdale with a degree in Visual Communications and traveled to Europe several times to study art history. He began his design career at Jive Records in Manhattan, where he produced album art for various bands. His next ventures had him designing anything from packaging to watches as an art director for various accessory companies.

James loved being able to pursue his love of travel thanks to his design work, participating in design conferences and production facilities around the world. It was during these trips that many of the map designs and illustrations began to take shape and our online store selling them soon followed in 2009. After many years of side hustling and gaining small wholesale accounts, in 2014 he left his Creative Director job to start the Lost Dog full time. The American Dream!
